Manchester-based six-piece Mealtime have made an explosive entrance into 2020 through the incredible ‘Rain Like This’. The tune kicks off with some pulsating beats and a jagged synth before dual lead vocals embracing northern accents take us through a feel-good electronic indie banger. The music video compliments the energy of the track via a trippy, retro-styled tour through bright lights and high-speed car racing. Singer Sam explains how the video almost never happened: “I was nervously anticipating a visit from the bailiffs when I heard a knock at the door. To my surprise, it was a Hermes delivery driver dropping off an all in one racing suit I’d ordered a week prior. I got changed and proceeded to await the bailiffs dressed as a NASCAR Driver”. ‘Rain Like This’ continues down an impressive path that was first forged with 2019’s ‘Denim’ and will continue well into this year as they gear up for a debut EP release. - Dan Peeke
